Preventative Treatments for Healthier Trees

"Preventing Kansas Cities most common tree diseases"

Preventative treatments are one of the most effective ways to ensure disease free trees.  Many diseases are not reversible once they have been put in play, and many can have fatal results.  Many factors contribute to the spread of disease, such as wind, insects, infected tools, and pollens.  Because of these factors it is very difficult to defend your tree from potential risks without the use of preventative treatments.

Common Preventative Treatments:

Pine Sphearopsis

Scenario: " I noticed that one of my neighbors had all their pines removed this year because they pine blight and pine wilt.  I have 3 beautiful pines in my front yard and am now worried about losing mine too."

Solution: " Pine Blight is becoming a problem in the Kansas City area.  Often confused with Pine Wilt, which is also a deadly disease.  Pine Blight is preventable for any susceptible pine.  It is a tricky process though and can only be prevented during a specific time period between the end of April and Mid-June.  Therefore setting an appointment ahead of time is usually recommended, though we can take appointments during any time."

Pine Sphearopsis is transferred by an insect that carries the fungi on its legs.  In order to prevent the spread a spray must be applied to the foliage to prevent the insect from landing on the tree in the first place.  In order for this procedure to work we must apply 3 spray applications within the 6 week season in which these insects are in movement.
